2.26.24 edition

Let's have some Poker Run Fun and raise funds for the REALTORS® Political Action Committee!

The Cheyenne Board of REALTORS®’ Public Policy Committee will be hosting a Poker Run each Wednesday during the month of March (Mar 6, Mar 13, Mar 20th, and March 27th).  All funds raised will benefit the REALTORS® Political Action Committee.  REALTOR® members may participate in two ways:

  1. bid to have one of their listings as a location on one of the weekly Poker Runs, or
  2. participate by visiting the locations each week to build their hand.
  • How are the Locations determined?  An auction will take place at the MLS Meetings on Feb 28, Mar 6, Mar 13, and Mar 20 to determine where players will go to draw cards to build their hands.  Any REALTOR® member may bid to win a “location” (a member can use one of their new listings, or a listing they would like REALTORS® to re-visitthe location must be in Laramie County).  The five highest bids each week will win.  A representative must be present at each location between 10 am - 12 pm for players to draw cards.  Each location winner will be entered into the Grand Prize drawing.  Location winners are encouraged to offer refreshments and/or  drawings to entice more participation.
  • Who can Play?  Any REALTOR® may play and can “play” as many scoresheets (hands) as they choose.  Each scoresheet requires a $25 investment to RPAC.  ($50 investors can play 3 scoresheets,  $100 investors can play 5 scoresheets).  Each player MUST play his/her own score sheet.
  • How are cards dealt?  Each player must purchase a poker scoresheet to play.  Players will visit each of the locations to draw a card, the card must be filled in by the location representative.  If any card drawn is a duplicate of a card previously drawn, that card must be re-drawn.  No hand can have duplicate cards (ex: you can not have more than one King of Hearts in your hand).  If playing more than one  scoresheet, the player must designate which scoresheet  they are playing before drawing a card.  It is the player’s responsibility to check their scoresheet  before leaving each location to ensure that the card they drew is correctly recorded on their scoresheet.
  • How are winning hands determined?  Up to five cards will be used to build each hand.  The winning hand is determined by standard poker hand rankings.  Scoresheets may be turned in to the CBR/MLS Office, or at the beginning of the MLS Meeting.
  • Can I have a Wildcard?  Players may purchase a “wildcard” by investing an additional $100 to RPAC.  A wildcard can be used in place of any card previously drawn (example, a participant may have a hand with 3 kings, an ace, and a Queen — purchasing a “wildcard” can improve the hand to be 4 kings and an ace, giving the participant a 4-of-a-kind hand)
  • What’s the Prize?  Weekly winners will be drawn at the next week’s MLS Meeting (do not need to be present to win).  The player with the winning hand each week will win a $50 gift card and be entered to win the Grand Prize - $500 cash!  If more than one player has the same winning hand, the weekly winner will be determined by lot, however all winning hands may be entered into the Grand Prize drawing.  Each location host will also be entered into the Grand Prize drawing.
